Ayurveda was something I had grown up with, but not recognised as a science.
Little did I know, that these remedies and preparations all root from the 5000 year old ancient medical science of Ayurveda- the science of life, passed down from generations way before the introduction of modern day medicine.
I was always fascinated by how things in the kitchen cupboards and weird looking seeds could help settle a stomach ache, or heal the body from a common cold.
I was drawn to it as a patient having suffered from migraines since my teens.
I had tried many approaches to help overcome these but nothing helped enough.
In 2014, a friend introduced to me to Dr Deepika Rodrigo and thereon my journey to become a practitioner began.
I gave birth in 2017 and shortly after got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Feeling in balance before and during pregnancy, I let herbs and dietary advices go by the wayside and even went on a 'fad' diet. The doctors told me I would need to take disease modifying drugs and biologics or at the very least, steroids. The diagnosis was my crux, the warning that I can't continue and just let pain control and define me. Those with chronic illness or pain know - the having to cancel, being labelled, the guilt of not feeling good enough, the limitations. Enough was enough. I chose a path that incorporated Western medicine and complemented it with an Ayurvedic diet, panchkarma detoxification and herbs. which finally led me back to balance.
I decided that I wanted train as a Consultant and then Practitioner to learn to not only how overcome illness through the help of herbs and diet, but to prevent ill health too.
This was the start of my journey to Practitioner and through all the pain, doubt, and low days. I pottered away evenings studying and using the immersion as an escape into an oasis of knowledge and learning at the Ayurvedic Institute UK and truly living and eating an Ayurvedic way having finally understood the importance. Fast forward to 2020, and I decided to found Ayurwell to start my mission to help bring Ayurveda and its benefits to those it hasn't reached so far.
Having treated family and friends, and seeing how their lives have changed either through weight loss, having children or feeling more vitality, I was constantly asked to share this with others.
Ayurwell is on a mission, a mission to bring Ayurveda to the public and to make it accessible and a way of life for many, not just the few!
My thirst for knowledge is not quenched and they say that one is forever a student, which as a former teacher, I can agree. One never stops learning!
Dr Deepika says the knowledge she imparts, is but a drop in the ocean and from that drop imparted upon me, I offer my humble services to you with an aim to alleviate your pain and lead you with professional ,compassionate guidance to good health!
